Paranoia
This is nothing really....but I felt like sharing this with the people...
This little article is called "Why Americans should not be allowed to travel"

It came up at a very good time as finals are starting next week and that means it's cramming time this weekend.
The kinda good thing is that I only have one final a day.  The kinda bad thing...they're all in the morning, either 8-10am or 10:30am-12:30pm.
And the list goes like this : Biostats, Bio 100LW (upper div lab + writing), Organic Chem 51B, and I finish off with Molecular Bio.

Anyone who is on break now....I envy you but I suppose it's equal trade as I don't start school until the end of September.

OMG!!! I wish I knew this before...

Paranoia
In this day and age....I think everyone can do with a helping hand especially those who are in college or going into college, be it for grad school or otherwise.  With the economy falling and (especially in the United States) spending in education dropping, we need the extra money we can earn.  But how would anyone like a FREE(!!!!!!!!!) tuition for college and the only requirement would be to work approximately 10 hours a week?  That sounds like the most wonderful deal any student, to-be-student, and parent would love to hear.  Unless of course, you're from California (like me...) and already in school (like me...), then it's just like...how come I never heard of this before!

Read this article and tell me you don't like it.  I suppose the only downfall is that it's all in the Mid-West and follows over to the South East and some of the East...  I for one, if I knew this beforehand, wouldn't mind moving out there.  Saving a 100 grand in tuition would be a blessing.  Now all I need to know is if there are tuition-free grad schools (or even for pharmacy)!

So [info]dumdumgr1 was asking me how to make icons on photoshop...and I showed her by making one according to her specifications. I have absolutely no idea about Special A (S.A) but from the synopsis I made this :

And then she wanted to know how to make it animated...And so I'm uploading them...but I'm not too sure if the 2nd one is showing correctly...if it's not, can someone tell me how to get it to show animation....I'mma have to remake the animated one...
And I told her I'd upload some of my other ones while I was at it so... )

Cheating...?

Paranoia
Here's a word of advice to everyone! Whenever a TA passes out a quiz and tells you it's okay to talk during it, that means it will be painfully difficult.

And that's exactly what happened in my physics discussion today! Just the first class and we had a quiz. Nothing too bad...at least for the first problem. The calculator was a wonder to use. ^^ And then everyone hit the second question and the noise level started up. The phrasing was so convoluted and everyone was talking that the TA had to give us hints. But even with that it still stumped us because then we had to find the equation and the professor hadn't really covered dimensionality thoroughly...just a simple example to prove X=L (length). In the end the TA just said to solve for the variable and ignore finding the equation.

Oh wow...I've been gone a while huh? I blame school and o-chem if there's any reason.
Either way...Happy New Years everyone and I hope you've all enjoyed your holidays and for those on the quarter system like me...doesn't it just suck school is started in 2 days?

I went to a concert recently over in Las Vegas. It was for Hacken Lee (李克勤) and considering how the econ is going here, it was sufficiently crowded but not a full house. I'd upload vids and/or pics but the vids' sound is horribly scratchy and unless you're willing to ignore the feedback from the mic/speakers there's no point. By the way does anyone know how to clean the feedback out? He sung a son about his son and had pictures of him on the screen; it was the only song where no one paid attention to him and was watching the pictures scroll by.

Didn't really do much else over the winter break 'cept I went to watch a movie or two. The first of "The Tale of Despereaux" and in my opinion, it doesn't hold a candle to Ratatouille. It has a rather interesting plot but didn't grab attention as well or keep it. The second movie was "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" was a much more interesting movie. The effect of Button (played by Brad Pitt) being born as an old wrinkly baby (think mandrake baby from Pan's Labyrinth) and growing younger and younger until he is a baby is amazing and no horrible/obvious special effects that ruins the film.

Oh and has anyone ever seen/eaten the albino (white) asparagus? Kinda hard to chew past the first nibble. My mom bought it on a whim at Ralphs when we saw it (something new to try) and oh my god! if you don't have the membership card it would have cost $5.99 per pound!! With the card it dropped to $1.89 per pound instead!

More from HK~

  • Sep. 2nd, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Androgynous
Let's see....on Saturday we had a barbeque at my maternal grandparents' in the "foreclosed area" as in the area which borders China, so we had to get a permit from the Shang Shui Police Station...which is in Fanling. (Can anyone explain the name to me?) We decided to celebrate my birthday early since I wouldn't be in Hong Kong then; which is sad because it's the same day as my lunar birthday..which occurs *thinking* every...18 years?!
I got my uncle, who's now laid off, to pick up a un-roasted pig to bbq on our own. It was basically the centerpiece of the entire thing in the beginning...then it was devoured. Very tasty...but oily of course. Then we also had pigeon, eel, chicken & pigeon innards (liver...spleen)...sorry if the food grosses anyone out. XP
Then I introduced s'mores to the my little cousins and friend. We only had a few before we stopped so we would have room for my birthday cake. And a couple of dozens of pictures since people keep jumping into the picture or moving... And after that...they wouldn't stop playing mahjong...until 3 (or was it 2) in the morning and us younger ones were expected to go to Ocean Park the next day.

That's about all the interesting stuff I can add before my little brother steals the laptop away from me becaue he NEEDS to blog watch the latest Bleach episodes.

Oh and Ocean Park...just give me the money to go to Knott's instead. Ocean Park's rides are so~ tame compared to how I felt going there when I was in elemntary school.

more pictures to come later... )

LJ is weird in it timing...whatever. Just for referance, LA is 10:18am 9/1/08 and HK is 1:18am 9/2/08.

Hello people! Just saying Hi from Hong Kong. (forgot to message/post and tell before I left. >>) Either way, I arrived safely with little turbulance except for my little cousin wailing on and off through the flight. Her dad should stop spoiling her already!! and she's only ~20 months.

The first full week in HK was barely spent at "home" but at my aunts' places. It's been too long since I've gone bowling...both me and my little brother did so~ bad! And I need to go see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3D, if it's still out, once I get back to America. I watched it in 35mm film...but it would have kicked ass in 3D. Our first choice was the 3rd Mummy movie but the time was too late if we expected to go bowling and swimming later (yesterday).

I went fishing for the first time Tuesday!! Overall it was boring but got better once I caught a fish. Not too sure what kind it was but it was different than the one my uncles and little brother caught; 'bout a foot long and striped with black/dark blue/brown and white/beige. ^__^

And since this morning we went on Lvl 8 Typhoon alert. But right before I went to my aunts' where I'm posting this, it rose to lvl 9 which is ONE away from the highest!!! Looks kinda cool outside though. There isn't too much rain like what we see in hurricane footage, but it's said to be hitting west-north or that's what the posting was...don't think it matters now that it's basically fully hit us in HK.

Earthquake!!

  • Jul. 29th, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Panda
Did you guys feel the earthquake today (~11:35am)? Apparently (or at least right now) they say it's ~5.6 on the Rictor scale and it started at Chino Hills. Just where were you guys when it happened? It's interesting to see how far it went. And there was a tiny aftershock right now.

ETA : on the news, they're saying ~5.8

Can someone help translate this?

  • Apr. 27th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
Ramen!Love
I have this "origami" project but it's in Korean...so I was wondering if anyone is willing to translate it?
Overall it looks simple to do...but I don't want to finish making it, only to find out something went wrong.
Sankyuu!
